POULTRY CLIENT
Feeding success:
Linkeight’s recipe for efficiency in poultry processing plants
A leading New Zealand-based poultry producer faced challenges in streamlining their manufacturing processes, optimising water consumption, and reducing operational costs.
With a commitment to enhancing efficiency and sustainability, the poultry company sought solutions to address these issues. Enter Linkeight, with specialisation in Contract Manufacturing and Industrial Product Sourcing in China, they partnered with the poultry company to undertake several projects aimed at transforming their operations.
An efficient new Conveyor System
In their initial engagement with Linkeight, the poultry company required a 140-metre conveyor system to improve their internal workflow processing. The existing method of manually handling boxes and transporting products between workstations was both labour-intensive and time-consuming.
Linkeight’s collaboration with the poultry company began by understanding their requirements and desired outcomes. Linkeight prepared a comprehensive brief, including floor plans, total length, carton specifications, and workflow details. They then embarked on the process of selecting an appropriate factory in China with the necessary capabilities for manufacturing the conveyor system.
After visiting and assessing several factories, Linkeight identified a suitable factory and initiated the design process. A 3D model of the conveyor system was developed, shared with the client, and refined based on their feedback. Linkeight presented an offer and quote to the client, which was then accepted. From here, the client visited the factory in China to inspect the completed conveyor system, followed by successful testing and commissioning. Linkeight managed the logistics of delivering the system to the client’s facility in New Zealand.
The implemented conveyor system has streamlined the poultry company’s internal workflow processes, eliminating the need for manual handling of boxes. The system efficiently transports cartons, each weighing up to 13-15 kilograms, between workstations and storage areas. This automation has not only enhanced operational efficiency but also minimised labour costs.
Water Treatment Plant Construction
Building on the success of the conveyor project, the poultry company explored opportunities for sustainable water management. They aimed to reduce their dependence on council-provided water by implementing a water treatment plant that would treat bore water to a potable standard.
Linkeight collaborated closely with the client to develop a detailed project brief for the water treatment plant. This included specifications for water treatment capacity, treatment levels, project parameters, and the physical space available for the plant. Linkeight engaged with factories in China to explore different technology options and provided the client with varying plant design proposals.
Following careful evaluation and consultation, the poultry company selected an ozone sterilising plant design. The selected design incorporated key components such as catalytic filters, silica sand filters, and sodium iron exchangers for effective water treatment.
With the final design in place, production of the water treatment plant commenced in the chosen Chinese factory. Linkeight managed the entire production process, including technical drawings, technical writing for operational manuals, production and quality control. At this point, the client’s engineer travelled to China for commissioning and operational training on the plant. Linkeight then shipped the water treatment plant to New Zealand and delivered to site.
The water plant’s implementation significantly reduced the poultry company’s water costs, with the investment recovered over two years, accompanied by minimal ongoing operating expenses.
Ongoing Collaboration and Success
Linkeight and the poultry company have continued their collaboration on various projects. These have included the development of a Thermoforming Vacuum Packing Machine, Labelling Machines, Cooler Bags, Imported Packaging Film, design and visualisation for Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) and more.
Through Linkeight’s expertise in Contract Manufacturing and Industrial Product Sourcing, the poultry company has been
able to implement innovative solutions that not only improve operational efficiency but also contribute to the company’s long-term success and competitiveness in the market.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes we can, provide us a 3D CAD file or we can create that using our designer. We can prototype through 3D printing or CNC machining (utilising CAM software).
We specialise in plastic and metals but have also worked with glass, foams and wood.
We can accept 3D native files from most CAD software packages (preferably .stp or .IGS). 2D files (.dxf or .dwg) with pdf working files to accompany. Linkeight can provide these file types for you if required.
Quality controls are specific by customer but typically include material checks, dimensional validation, finishing validation checks (includes paint, powder coating, galvanizing). The rate of checking is typically 1-5% of production quantity, at random. Checking rates will increase to as high as 20% if any issues are found.
Yes, design can include conceptual 3D designs, finalisation of 3D design and 2D working files.
Bulk production supply generally take 90 days as a guide after the design is finalised but is dependent on the complexity of the product.
Production lead time could be as fast as 15-20 days.
We stand by our supplier partners who are experts in their fields and most issues can be resolved fairly quickly.
Depending on the manufacturing process, costs can vary and include set up charges for moulds in addition to the price per unit. Typically our quoted price is FIS to our clients premise. As we trade in USD there may be some price fluctuation between orders from time to time.
No, this is included in our unit pricing for delivered goods.
